Bay Primary is proud of its teachers, who successfully combine the best of both traditional and progressive educational approaches. We offer all 8 Learning Areas of the Outcomes-Based Curriculum (OBE), while happily sharing tried and tested knowledge, values and skills. Our methods are interactive and sensitive to the diverse needs and backgrounds of Bay children. And our once-weekly kinetics session during school hours is proof that we follow the adage A healthy mind in a healthy body.
Teachers
Our teachers are experienced, inspired professionals, with humour, camaraderie and initiative. We can boast with specialist art and music teachers, as well as a school librarian for the children's weekly visits to the school library.
Bay has Teacher Support Teams (TSTs) on standby to help children and their parents to confront and overcome academic, psychological, or behavioural challenges.
Homework and Reading
There is a strong focus on language competency during the Foundation Phase (Gr.1-4). About four months into their first year, Gr.1s take home readers. Reading practice remains a daily task from then on, till Gr.4, where you as parent have the privilege and responsibility to act as listener and guide. From Gr.2-7, homework extends into other Learning Areas as well. |
